A little History

March of 2000 I discovered Lee's Speedway, a raceway in the RI mall. I purchased a starter set and began racing weekly. I was hooked! In a short period of time I had 6 cars and 2 controllers. It turned out to be a great way to meet people. I met my wife Karen. She was bringing her two sons in to watch their Uncle race. Every saturday night I looked forward to slot car racing and going out for a bite to eat with new friends. In May 2001 Lee's Speedway closed. Myself and two other racers purchased the 155' King and opened Rhode Island Raceway in September 2001. As with some partnerships things didn't work out. I ran the track with them for 2 1/2 years. In March 2004 I told the right person I was looking for a pinched King track. He put me in touch with the owner of the tracks that used to be a raceway called Turbo Tracks in Branford CT. They had been in storage for 4-5 years. In April 2004 we started cleaning out a 2000 sq. ft. space next to my family business. Karen, the boys and I worked very hard on the room and the tracks for 5 months. Karen and I got married during that time. We opened Slot Car Emporium Septemper 10, 2004.
